- What are the duties of the 4 volunteers for
pull-tab timing? Typically there are 4 positions,
and they are as follows
A. Time Machine Operator -
pushes a button at start of race, then every time someone finishes
B.
Recorder - Records the bib numbers of runners crossing the
line
C. Puller - pull the bottom tab off of the bibs,
if missing bottom tab cut off bib and puts on stringer
D.
Stringer - Takes tab from Puller and puts on stringer.
Some bigger races may call for a Caller and Recorder, and a Runner to
run the stringers to the timer.

Race Results - Chip timing
- I started at the front and my wife started at
the back, we finished together, so why does it list her beating me by
30 seconds?
The chip on your shoe or bib, determines the time you
cross the start and finish lines, so she took 30 seconds to cross the
start line effectively giving her a 30 second lead on you.
- My Wife's has my time and I have my Wife's time?
Sometimes couples or families mix up their bibs and
chips, and this is what happened.
- My Net Time and Gun time are the same, why?
There are a few reasons why this happened, You could have forgotten to
wear a chip, so we added you later; According to our paper results, you
did not run over the start mat; You missed the start mat or arrived
late after the start time.
- I started with my friend and we ran together
the whole time but he is listed beating me when I was a little ahead?
The chips we use are on your shoe or bib and his chip crossed before
your chip.
- In the results i do not have a age so i did not
get an award? Runners/Walkers are usually rushed at the late
registration table and forget to fill out a field that we need. Useful
tip, I always use address labels on my forms so it is easy to read then
just fill out gender and age.
- I am listed in the results but with no name or
Unknown?
We most likely did not receive your entry form so if you email us we
can add your name. tothefinishtiming@gmail.com
Race Results- pull tab timing
- My time is a few spots up from my name?
Sometimes runners cross the line twice,
creating extra times.
- I left my number in the car, so i did not get
into the results? We do our best to get bib or name
of any runners that do not have a bib, at race. Email us for
a correction like this.
